Alexa, Tell Me About My Medications

by Sara Foster | Mar 18, 2020

Amazon continues to dabble ever deeper into healthcare. Its latest venture is intended to provide drug information to Alexa users, both patients and healthcare providersphoto of a medicine bottle surrounded by pills

Amazon’s partner in the venture is First DataBank (FDB), which is a provider of drug and medical device information. The drug information provided by clinicians from FDB includes precautions, interactions and potential side effects.

The goal of this mHealth partnership is to improve adherence to medication regimens, as well as to reduce adverse drug occurrences and improve overall outcomes for patients. The Alexa platform provides a quick and easy way for consumers to obtain this information, which is designed to supplement advice and instructions from providers and pharmacists.
