HCIC25 Keynote Speaker Spotlight: How to Build a Long-Lasting Career as a Hospital Marketer
This article was written for Greystone.Net by Jessica Levco, Healthcare Writer & Event Strategist.

How do some healthcare marketers not just survive all the changes our industry faces, but thrive?
David A. Feinberg, SVP, CMCO and Dean for Marketing and Communications, Icahn School of Medicine Mount Sinai Health System, has the answer — and he’s ready to share it at #HCIC25, Nov. 9-12 in Las Vegas.
During his keynote presentation, “Lessons from a Life on the Marketing Frontlines: From CPG to AMCs, From Back Rooms to Boardrooms…Learn From My Successes and Mistakes,” Feinberg will discuss what he’s learned from a nearly five-decade career in healthcare marketing.
From experiences at Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Clairol, NewYork-Presbyterian, Dana-Farber and the Mount Sinai Health System, Feinberg will talk about the major shifts he’s seen in the industry — and everything you need to know about confronting today’s financial pressures, dealing with disruptive competition and talent shortages.
He’ll also share tips on how to build a long-lasting, sustainable career.
“You have to lean into the chaos,” Feinberg says. “You have to say, ‘OK, all this stuff is going on, but let’s go back to the things that don’t change.’ For example, now’s the time build your brand and strengthen it, regardless of what’s happening in the news cycle.”
And most important, have an open mind, surround yourself with talented people and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Feinberg says he wants his presentation to be centered around having an open dialogue versus clicking through a bunch of PowerPoint slides. He’s leaving plenty of time for Q&A.
“I want everybody to walk away with learning at least one thing — something that will help them in their career or personal life,” Feinberg says.
PS: Feinberg has attended HCIC for decades, and shared these tips for conference newcomers:
- Go to a session that you don’t know anything about.
- Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself. It’s a friendly crowd.
- Have some fun — you’ll be in Vegas, remember?
- When you get back to the office, put together a presentation for your team about what you learned.
