What Benefits Are CMOs Looking for with AI?
While most CMOs around the world see AI as a beneficial tool in their marketing strategies, they don’t all agree on what’s most valuable about AI tools. A recent report found five categories that CMOs see as having the biggest potential for their efforts.

The five categories are:
- Improvement in marketing effectiveness. Almost half (44%) of CMOs see AI bringing improvements in marketing performance via better targeting, personalization, and innovative testing. A step up in ROI and more relevant messaging can be possible with AI’s ability to analyze signals at scale. AI can find patterns in large datasets, predict customer behavior, and refine campaigns on a continual basis, which can improve engagement across channels. It can also assist with adapting campaigns across various audiences, platforms, and languages.
- Better process efficiency. Over 40% of CMOs see workflow improvements as a benefit of AI. Its ability to automate repetitive tasks provides more time for marketing teams to focus their efforts on more high-value tasks. Cost savings can be achieved with predictive analytics and automated campaign management functions being carried out by AI while improving customer satisfaction.
- Improved productivity from teams. A large number of CMOs (42%) see AI as having the ability to enable human performance and productivity. Tasks such as drafting content, data analysis, and summarizing communications can be done rapidly with AI, leaving more time for teams to focus on creative and brand building. With AI’s assistance, there can be fewer errors, more balanced workloads, and more focus on high-value tasks that drive growth.
- Improved scale and speed to market. CMOs see AI leading to shorter creative cycles with fast creative development on a larger scale than possible before.
- Financial savings. While some organizations are eliminating marketing teams altogether due to AI use, others are bringing more work inside their organizations and cutting back on outside agencies as they adopt AI.
