New data from Buffers shows that responding to social media post comments can improve engagement. Improved engagement can increase reach as a result of increased interest. 

Buffer’s data found that, when looking at average interactions, overall interaction increased when the poster replied to comments. In particular, Threads saw the highest increase in activity from replying to comments. Results from other platforms when comments were replied to were:

• LinkedIn: 30% increase in overall engagement
• Instagram: 21% increase
• Facebook: 9%
• Twitter (X): 8% increase

Because of the variables involved, this type of measurement is difficult, but there does seem to be a strong correlation.
